East Upolu & Aleipata District (Faofao Beach)

Start your day with the beautiful scenic drive along the North East coast of Upolu stopping at Falefa falls and passing through the Le Mafa Pass (1700ft above sea level). This is a breathtaking view of the east and south coastlines. The drive is through lush green forests, waterfalls, plantations and traditional samoan villages.
Swimming and snorkeling (bring your own gear) is at Faofao Beach where an option of a BBQ or plate lunch is served. The return trip is via the South West road and a short photo stop will at the “Papapapaiuta Fall” where it drops into an old volcanic crater. You will see fantastic views of Apia township as you descend towards town and back to your hotel.

Manono Island Excursion

This tour visits the legendry "Bali Hai" an hour's drive to the west of Apia and 20 minutes by boat. The boat leaves from Cape Lefatu on Upolu Island for Manono Island, with views of the crater island of Apolima on the way. Once reaching Manono, we will be greeted by our Samoan host family for a brief lecture on Samoan customs and etiquette. We will also walk through the backyard to see what is typically grown in a Samoan garden. We will show how coconut cream is made and the various uses of the coconut. The boat will then leave for a beach where lunch will be served and you can enjoy swimming. This tour is recommended for those that are interested in Samoan culture and way of life.

Lefaga Village and Matareva Beach

This tour takes you to the South-West Coast of Upolu. Lefaga village and Matareva Beach was the location for the movie “return to paradise” starring Gary Cooper in the early 1950s. Its what the visitor dreams the South Pacific to be – its turquoise blue sea, white sands and black lava rocks. It is ideal for swimming and snorkeling (bring your own gear), or just relaxing and lazing in the sun. The route to the beach is via the main cross-island road stopping at “Papapapaiuta Falls” for a short photo session. Lunch and drinks are served at Matareva Beach before heading back to Apia via north and east coastal road with 20 minutes allowance for photos.

Savaii Tour – South Coast (For Daily FIT & Groups only) no Cruises

Explore and learn about Savaii, our largest island with our dynamic guide Chris Solomona. Tour departs Aggie Greys in Apia at 06:15 for Mulifanua wharf (1hr) to connect the 0800 Ferry for Savaii (1 hr 20 mins. one way). This is a great way to see the Samoan islands by sea. We will be met at the wharf by our guide Chris Solomona who will take us to Savaii’s Fresh Produce Market to view locally grown produce and handicrafts. Our next stop is at Mu Pagoa Falls that drops into the ocean. The drive to Taga Blow holes is through lush vegetation, plantations and traditional villages. Taga blowholes is a natural spectacle not to be missed. Following the blow holes we will witness a tapa making demonstration, an art form which is not being practiced much today. The tapa is made from the bark of the paper mulberry tree and it is amazing to watch a thin bark stretched to form a fabric type material. All the dyes used are made from natural clay and soot of the “u’a” tree. This is one of the highlights of the Savaii excursion. Lunch is at the Aganoa Beach with the opportunity to swim, sunbathe or just relax under the shade of a tree. Our return boat departs at 16:00hrs and arrives at Mulifanua wharf at approximately 17:30hrs and will arrive Apia at approx. 1815hrs.

Savaii Tour – North Coast

Pick up from Aggie Grey's Hotel in Apia is at 6:1 Sam for an hour's transfer to Mulifanua wharf to connect to the 8:00am ferry to Savaii. Our first visit is to the Salelologa Fresh Produce Market for a variety of produce that is grown on local soil. We will briefly stop at Sapapalii village where the first Missionarries arrived in Samoa in the early 1800's. Saleaula lava fields (1905-1911) is where the most recent volcanic eruption occured in Samoa. Mt. Asi with 450 volcanic cones can be seen from the lava fields. Find out how recent lava flows have filled lagoons and destroyed vast forests of the village of Puapua. Our stop at Satoalepai reserve is where you will see and swim with the turtles.
This is a wonderful experiece and a real treat for the kids. Lunch is at a beach resort with time for a swim or a quick snooze on the beach. We return via a pleasant drive through coastal villages, and inland to some uninhabited areas of Savaii. We depart Salelologa on the 4:00pm ferry and are back in Apia by 6:00pm.

SUNDAY BEACH & SAMOAN BUFFET

Sunday in Samoa is a Day of Rest, going to church and having the most important communal meal of the week (to’ana’i). This tour can do all these things! There is ample time to attend a church service of your choice (own arrangements). For those departing from Aggie Grey’s Resort there is a stop at the Malua Theological College en route Apia to view turtles in their natural habitat. We will pick up guests from Aggie Grey’s Hotel before continuing our excursion.

Apia Township & Surrounding Area

This half day tour covers Mulinuu ; the Sacred Burial Grounds of the Paramount Chiefs of Samoa, Parliament House, Independence Memorial, Lands and Titles Court and the German Memorial where the first German flag was raised in late1800s. Following Mulniuu, we head inland to see the venue for the recent South Pacific Games. The Tuanaimato Sports complex, Olympic sized Aquatic Centre and Faleata Golf course.
We will also drive through the Alafua Campus of the University of the South Pacific to view various agricultural developments. The Moamoa Cathedral is our next stop to admire the beautiful stained glass windows of this late nineteenth century church.
The last stop is the former home of the famous Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, now a Museum. The visit is conducted by museum staff and provides an interesting insight to the life of Robert Louis Stevenson. The gardens and grounds of the museum are well kept and include an array of local plants and beautiful flowers. Light refreshment is served at the museum patio.

Coastal Villages, Falefa Falls & Piula Cave Pool

This half day tour is along the north east coast of Upolu and it takes in traditional villages nestling along the Coastline where times have changed slightly over the decades. A stop is made at natures “plum Pudding Rock” for photos before continuing on to Falefa Falls and Estuary. This was a trading post for beach whalers and locals in the early 1800s. On our return we stop at Piula Cave Pool where you can enjoy a cool swim in this fresh water spring with half of the pool under a cave and the other half in the open. It is ideal on a hot day. The warm seawater next to the pool provides a pleasant alternative dip. The return trip allows for a 15 minute photo stop at a village, scenic views or cultural activity.

Shopping and Garden Tour

Tour starts at the Samoan Flea Market where a variety of handicrafts and local curios are sold. This is where you get a bargain at a set price. Our next stop is at the Fresh Produce Market where farmers sell fresh fruits and vegetables, taro, bananas, kava and more traditional handicrafts. It’s a place for interesting sights, smells and sounds. Pacific Jewel is Samoas newest Contemporary and Cultural shop with exquisite handmade arts and crafts made from local materials such as shells, coconuts and tapa. Pacific Jewel has an assortment of gift items and souvenirs. Our last stop is at Agnes’s Garden where you will find a fantastic selection of tropical “introduced” and local plants and flowers. Light refreshments of tropical fruits is served here.
